In what would be considered a concert blessing from the metal gods, Cleveland was bestowed the tour date that brought in a few of the Bay’s thrashers to rejuvenate the metal scene.  Mark 5/10/2022 as a day that Testament, Exodus and Death Angel left a lasting memory with “The Bay Strikes Back Tour.

Death Angel is one of those bands that when they put out a new release you will know for a fact that it will deliver the goods.  DA poured their soul into their performance. It took just a few notes to start the show that the crowd was easily sucked into their vibe. Metal-heads were singing along with them and it was a total blast. The grammy band played their popular songs that fans who weren’t real familiar with their music but knew the hit and that still kept them in the grasps of DA.

Well when Exodus comes to town its a give-in to know that they are there for the pit, head banging, and fist throwing from beginning to end. It was really evident that the draw to the band is Gary Holt. Yeah you know him, that guy who was in Slayer. But Gary is so much more than a pop in Slayer guitarist. He is the meat and potatoes of Exodus. Don’t get me wrong the rest of the band are just as hard hitting and polished in their craft. Its just the popularity that Holt is given. And that’s alright.  Metal needs a guitar hero!

Rounding out the evening was Chuck Billy and the guys in Testament.  Do I really need to keep writing? If you are reading this far in to this than you already know about

Testament and their metal history. So I will not go on about it. I will say this. With Dave Lombardo added to the lineup it brings that celebrity factor to the band, and yes people went nuts when they introduced him. Also being a former member of Slayer.  Lombardo fit in perfectly with the band. Being a guitarist myself I was easily sucked in to one of my guitar hero’s Alex Skolnick.  Been a fan of his playing for decades and he still makes it look easy and so much fun on stage.

Overall, I can’t knock any of these bands down. As they each brought what they were known for, hard crushing and brutal metal.  I was blessed to be able to witness “The Bay Strikes Back Tour.”  On a side note, it was really nice to hear from the singers about how excited they are to finally be able to interact with a real audience since Covid struck. They each iterated it and ingrained it for all to know this.

If this tour passes through your town get your ass to the venue and be prepared for an awesome time.
