Sold Out ShipRocked 2023

Welcomed Over 4,000 Guests For January 22-28 Cruise Featuring  Falling In Reverse, Parkway Drive, Nothing More, Skillet, Suicidal Tendencies,

Motionless In White, grandson, Ayron Jones & Many More; $125,000 Raised For Cancer Sucks Charity During On-Board Auction

Over 4,000 guests came together for a sold out ShipRocked 2023, the annual rock music vacation at sea, from January 22-28 onboard Carnival Magic. The cruise departed Port Canaveral, Florida and included visits to Half Moon Cay, The Bahamas, Grand Turk, TCI and a first-time stop at Amber Cove, Dominican Republic. ShipRocked 2023 featured dozens of performances from artists including co-headliners Falling In Reverse and Parkway Drive (first U.S. shows since 2019), along with Nothing More, Skillet, Suicidal Tendencies, Motionless In White, Bad Omens, grandson, Ayron Jones, Giovannie and the Hired Guns, The Stowaways all-star band and more, as well as special acoustic sets from artists including Keith Wallen (Breaking Benjamin), Corey Glover (Living Colour), and Emily Armstrong (Dead Sara).

Guests also enjoyed artist-hosted events and activities at sea and on the beach. In addition, the ShipRocked Cancer Sucks! onboard charity auction raised an incredible $125,000 for cancer research.

During the cruise, the highly anticipated 2024 ShipRocked dates and ports were revealed to guests via a video announcement as the ship sailed away from Florida. ShipRocked 2024 is set for February 4-10 onboard Carnival Magic out of Miami, Florida, with three new ports for “ShipRockers”: Ocho Rios, Jamaica, Bimini, The Bahamas and Grand Cayman. The ShipRocked 2024 music lineup will be announced in the coming months. Watch the announcement video for the horror-themed ShipRocked 2024 here: https://bit.ly/sr24-savethedate

ShipRocked continues to grow each year—often selling out months in advance–and expanded to six days for its 13th sailing. ShipRocked returns as a 6-day vacation again in 2024. Cabins often sell out well before the music lineup is announced.

During ShipRocked, guests were treated to a variety of unique experiences, including the ShipRocked Artist Q&A which featured insightful conversation with Winston McCall of Parkway Drive, Chris Motionless of Motionless In White, Noah Sebastian of Bad Omens, Mike Muir of Suicidal Tendencies, Emily Armstrong of Dead Sara, Hyro The Hero, and Leo Moracchioli of Frog Leap Studios. The panel was recorded for Making Waves – The ShipRocked Podcast, which is available for free through iTunes, Spotify and Google Podcasts and distributed via the Sound Talent Media Podcast Network / Evergreen Podcasts. Find the intimate discussion here: https://www.shiprocked.com/MakingWavesPodcast

ShipRocked’s all-star band The Stowaways performed two unique sets of cover songs on the ship’s deck stage, with some highlights including:

  • Randy Blythe (Lamb Of God) on vocals and David Ellefson (The Lucid, Kings Of Thrash, ex-Megadeth) on bass for Metallica’s “One”
  • Fronz from Attila went all out with a white fur coat and cigar for “Bawitdaba” by Kid Rock
  • Dead Sara vocalist Emily Armstrong belted out Pat Benatar’s “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” one night and Nirvana’s “Come As You Are” the next
  • Corey Glover treated the crowd to a powerful version of Soundgarden’s “Spoonman”
  • Randy Blythe and guitarist Sahaj Ticotin (Ra) covered Rob Zombie’s “Dragula”
  • Lacey Sturm (Flyleaf) and Chad Nicefield (ex-Wilson, ShipRocked host) put a unique twist on Faith No More’s “Epic” as a duet
  • Hyro The Hero and Jason Hook had the crowd in a frenzy for Rage Against The Machine’s “Killing In The Name Of”

Co-headliners Parkway Drive—playing their first U.S. shows since 2019–and Falling In Reverse each had two powerful sets on the ship’s deck stage, leaving fans wanting more.

Another unique ShipRocked show was from SR veteran Corey Glover (Living Colour / The Stowaways) who drew a large audience of guests and musicians alike for his intimate performance in an elevated area of the ship’s Atrium. Randy Blythe, Bumblefoot, Georgia South of Nova Twins, Ayron Jones and many others were spotted amongst the cruise guests. Amy Harris of The Travel Addict noted that Glover, “had one of the most memorable shows on the cruise as he performed on a small elevated stage in the Atrium lobby. You don’t always get to hear everyone including Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe sing their heart out in unison to Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’.”

Elsewhere, Steve Black of WRIF-FM in Detroit described his positive experience, and commented on the ShipRocked Family” noting, “It is a large chunk of humanity…of all types and backgrounds who share a few traits, including loyalty to the experience, a fierce passion for live music and the community spirit that among other things raises tens of thousands of dollars every year for the Cancer Sucks Charity. Festivals are fun, and I recommend them. But ShipRocked is an epic musical adventure at sea, or as Corey Glover pointed out ‘It’s better than a festival… Much better.’”

The overall lineup for ShipRocked 2023 included: co-headliners Falling In Reverse and Parkway Drive, Afterlife, Andy Wood, Aranda, Ayron Jones, Bad Omens, Bones UK, BRKN LOVE, Corey Glover, Davey Suicide, Dropout Kings, D.R.U.G.S., Emily Armstrong, Fame On Fire, Giovannie and the Hired Guns, grandson, Islander, Jason Hook, Jeris Johnson, Joey Morrow, Keith Wallen, Lacey Sturm, Lilith Czar, Memphis May Fire, comedian Mike Abrusci, Moon Fever, Motionless In White, Nonpoint, Nothing More, Nova Twins, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Robot Monster, Sahaj Ticotin of RA, comedian Shayne Smith, Skillet, Suicidal Tendencies, The Messenger Birds, The Standstills, Wage War, Wargasm and Zero 9:36, along with The Stowaways all-star band.

The StowawaysShipRocked’s official all-star band for 2023 – included Alecia “Mixi” Demner (Stitched Up Heart), Andy Wood, Angela Lese (former The Dead Deads), Chad Nicefield (former Wilson), Chris “Fronz” Fronzak (Attila), Christina Chriss (Kaleido), Corey Glover (Living Colour), Dameon & Gabe Aranda (Aranda), Davey Suicide, David Ellefson (Dieth, The Lucid, Kings Of Thrash, former Megadeth), Emily Armstrong (Dead Sara), Hyro The Hero, Jason Hook (former Five Finger Death Punch), Joey Morrow (Badflower), Keith Wallen (Breaking Benjamin), Leo Moracchioli (Frog Leap Studios), Phil Demmel (former Machine Head), Randy Blythe (Lamb of God), Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (former Guns N’ Roses) and Sahaj Ticotin (RA). A floating music festival, a rock & roll summer camp held in the dead of winter, a family reunion for the growing number of ShipRockers who have forged lifelong relationships out of a shared passion for music (and an occasional bucket of beer) – ShipRocked is the premier rock music vacation, offering dozens of performances and unique collaborations, artist-hosted events and activities, theme nights, artist photo meet & greets, and ample opportunity for fans and bands alike to unwind and create new friendships in tropical paradise. ShipRocked 2023 was hosted by guest favorite Cruise Director Cookie, along with Making Waves hosts Chad Nicefield and Justin Press.
